![]() Now that it's out for real, I don't doubt it'll keep popping back in for a quick vacation for many months to come. It's an extremely simple wee thing, and if you're looking for anything resembling a challenge, you'll probably find yourself clocking out in seconds.īut met on its own terms, diving in when you've a few spare minutes to lay down a new neighbourhood, Townscaper is an absolutely joyous little time waster that's kept me busy since it first hit early access last year (opens in new tab). A recent update even lets you export your town as a 3D model (opens in new tab) for printing, prototyping or whatever else you fancy. With high-res screenshot options, texture toggles and the ability to move the sun itself, Townscaper makes for a shockingly good desktop wallpaper generator. Sure, you can awkwardly finagle the camera to a street-level view, but I long for an update that'll let me stroll the boardwalks myself. It's just a shame you can't zoom right down to a first-person view. As of now, the only language available in the game is English and it costs $4.99 on the App Store here.Townscaper may not have the complexity of a Cities: Skylines, but its quaint towns littered with cobbled streets and old churches, dockyards and lighthouses feel more instantly homely than the sterile American-styled metropolises of "real" city-builders-even when your town includes impossibly tall citadels or Bioshock Infinite-style floating cities. On TikTok, smaller builds and challenges reign supreme, and that’s something we want to highlight just the same. For Macs, only the ones with an M1 chip can run the game. The Townscaper Showcase is here to display all kinds of builds, not just the larger and more ambitious ones often found on Twitter and Steam. Townscaper is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 11 or later. ![]()

![]() While Netflix has had a hand in some surprisingly realistic science fiction in the past, they’ve also greenlit some real groan-worthy productions (if you haven’t watched Away, don’t). The spinning spacecraft, which uses a spent upper stage to counterbalance its crew module and features a stationery utility node at the center, certainly looks impressive all the more so with the knowledge that it’s based on sound principles. While naturally some artistic license was used, is excited by what he’s seen so far. So they reached out to, who in turn used KSP to throw together a rough idea of how such a ship might work in the real-world.Īs you can see in the video below, the CGI spacecraft shown in the film’s recently released trailer ended up bearing a strong resemblance to its KSP prototype. The only problem was, they weren’t sure what that would actually look like. The writers of Stowaway wanted their film to take place on a Mars cycler, and to avoid having to create the illusion of weightlessness, they wanted their fictional craft to also have some kind of artificial gravity. An early KSP proof of concept for Stowaway. It’s worth noting that a similar cycler orbit should be possible for Earth-Venus trips, but nobody really wants to go there. The concept can be thought of as a sort of interplanetary train: where passengers and cargo are picked up and dropped off at “stations” above Earth and Mars. The spacecraft couldn’t actually stop at either planet, but while it made a close pass, smaller craft could rendezvous with it to hitch a ride. Put simply, it describes an orbit that would allow a vehicle to travel continuously between Earth and Mars while needing only an occasional engine burn for course corrections. The Mars cycler concept was proposed in 1985 by Buzz Aldrin as a way to establish a long-term human presence on the Red Planet. It turns out he used his virtual rocket building skills to help the creators of Netflix’s Stowaway develop a realistic portrayal of a crewed spacecraft in a Mars cycler orbit. But as revealed in one of his recent videos, YouTube isn’t the only place where his KSP craft can be found these days. This habitation mechanic does however give a first and imho promising and well done try at having to keep space, as in living space, in mind as well.Fans of the lusciously voiced space aficionado will know he often uses Kerbal Space Program (KSP) in his videos to knock together simple demonstrations of blindingly complex topics such as orbital mechanics. Indefinitely if you got a medic bay with you as well. Lets be honest, putting them in a MK2 crew compartment for an interplanetary is also still.eh, seriously, in this tourist class seat something, for months? Or YEARS?- it does work however. If at all, those colony supplies are just a "container resource" for everything including: medicine. Make that a hitchhiker, still a very cramped environment, and you are good to go for weeks.Įntertainment is only necessary beyond that-on interplanetary, or permanent bases. Its only a few days in a situation where in reality professional astronauts would already face severe health issues. And they will still count as crew, including life support even if you use other mods, ability to swap them around within a vessel etc. Turning into tourists is just a work around to "disable" them while keeping them in a way that you can "cure" them. Originally posted by RoofCat:I'm rather entertained some mods suggest professional astronauts will turn into lazy tourists just after a few days of solitary flight without a proper "entertainment". ![]() You don't even have to think about it for Mun trips - plenty of snacks are already in the command pods, but interplanetary travel requires a little consideration. If you want just a small challenge increase, then go snacks, it's tons of fun. Snacks: This really is the simplified TAC-LS now and is a pure joy to use. You can 0 out those thigns in the config, but they'll all still display on your screens in game What once was the "simpler TAC-LS" has become a micro management nightmare. So you can supply your guys as much as you want but there is a slowly degrading home sickness requires the kerbals be returned home, and *also* a slowly degrading habitation%, that requires special parts to repair. USI-LS: used to be awesome, but the big deal breaker for me is the home sickness number. KPBS adds a water drill and algae/greenhouse, there's also other mods that add greenhouse for TAC-LS. You'll need more parts to "close the loop" and produce your own food. Seperately manage O2, Water and Food and each of their waste products. I have tried most the others and still like TAC the best. So you’re telling me there’s a chance!?Here’s everything we know about the seemingly inevitable FFX-3. “But first, we’re not done making FF7 Remake, so we’re not in a position to talk about that just yet.” “The possibility is not zero,” Toriyama said of the game being made. The four of them also confirmed that a synopsis for FFX-3 exists. To celebrate Final Fantasy X’s 20-year anniversary, they discussed previously released follow-ups like X-2, the X-2.5 Eien no Daisho novel, and the X-Will audio drama. On the downside, it’ll be quite a few years before that happens.Ī late July 2021 issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine featured interviews with producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Motomu Toriyama, writer Kazushige Nojima, and character designer Tetsuya Nomura. At some point after the team wraps up the FF7 Remake saga, another sequel set in Spira could be the team’s next big project. It will be interesting to see where the studio takes the X storyline, but for now? For now, we wait for more 7 Remake news. The only thing preventing Square Enix’s developers from making Final Fantasy X-3 is the ongoing Final Fantasy VII Remake series. ![]() A hint to Final Fantasy X-3? Time will tell what’s in store." However, the audio drama leaves it hanging. When a new mystery emerges, it forecasts a great danger is looming again. Chuami has an interesting connection to one of Final Fantasy X’s main characters, and Yuna, Tidus, and other cast members reveal what they’ve been up to. "Set three years after defeating Sin, the scenario introduces two new characters named Chuami and Kurgum. "This HD collection features a 30-minute audio drama teasing that the quest to save Spira is hardly over," said our own Kimberly Wallace in her review of the HD Remaster. Regarding Final Fantasy X and X-2 and its HD remaster, we here at Game Informer loved this adventure, scoring it a 9 out of 10. Still, the knowledge that a story is written and the desire to return to this narrative is good news for those hoping to return to the X series. With the second part still a large mystery and the total amount of entries is still unknown at this time, it could be many, many years before we ever see anything concrete about Final Fantasy X-3. While he did confirm that the probability of returning to Spira is "not zero," he did add that Square Enix is fully focused on Final Fantasy 7 Remake at this time. ![]() In a recent interview with Famitsu, a Japanese gaming magazine translated by the folks at RPGSite, Nomura confirmed the existence of X-3's story, saying: "If we are to make X-3, we somehow have a synopsis written by Final Fantasy X writer Kazushige Nojima." He added that "it's sleeping right now, but the plot itself does exist." ![]() However, the caveat is that it is still a long way off as the team focuses on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It looks like those X-3 dreams could be coming true because director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that a Final Fantasy X-3 concept is already in motion with the story already written. For those that loved the Final Fantasy X experience and its sequel, many have wondered if a third game in this particular iteration of the Final Fantasy universe would ever be a reality. This often occurs because of a rapid change in moisture.Ĭocked – Spine cocked refers to book that is twisted in a way that the front and back boards don't line up when the book is laying flat. As a result of this perspective, people who don’t speak face severe discriminatory attitudes that relegate them to “other” or “lesser.” Metaphysical audism stems from a societal belief that speech is a fundamental aspect of humanity. The tendency to conflate language and speech also serves as the basis for a form of audism called “metaphysical audism.” The medical system can exacerbate internalized audism by treating Deafness as an affliction that requires “fixing.” This practice is rooted in a misconception that speech and language are inextricably linked. Others may be reluctant to participate in certain activities or communities because they implicitly accept the audist notion that the hearing people in those environments will be at a greater advantage. For example, some members of the Deaf community may choose not to use sign language and look unfavorably at those who do. There are varying degrees and diverse manifestations of audism within the Deaf community. This thinking can occur despite awareness of the harm this prejudice causes to the Deaf community. Sometimes, Deaf or hard of hearing people may accept audist beliefs and practices as the norm. What is Internalized Audism?ĭysconscious audism can also present as a form of internalized audism within the Deaf community. Dysconscious audism may persist in institutional structures and systems that reinforce the idea that Deafness is “other” rather than equal. Genie Gertz defines dysconscious audism as “a form of audism that tacitly accepts dominant hearing norms and privileges.” This mentality is not an intentional form of prejudice but rather a collectively accepted bias in favor of hearing people. ![]() Rather than an implicit bias, this type of audism is an active form of prejudice.ĭysconscious audism, on the other hand, is less obvious and more covert. Although these audists are aware of their prejudice and its potential for harm, they choose to continue to discriminate. Lane’s definition, however, expanded the definition to include institutional practices and beliefs. The audism definition Humphries outlined focused mainly on ways that audism manifests among individuals. Though the term dates back to 1977, it rose to prominence in the early 1990s thanks to psychologist Harlan Lane. The history of audism is a lengthy one, but the academic exploration of audism is a relatively new phenomenon. ![]() Humphries coined the term “audism” in his doctoral dissertation, “Communicating across cultures (deaf-hearing) and language learning.” Humphries is an American researcher and educator who primarily studies language and Deaf culture. Here is a closer look at some audism facts, the different types of audism, and ways to prevent audism at personal and institutional levels. In order to combat audism effectively, it is important to have an understanding of its manifestations. Another common manifestation of audism is the assumption that those with hearing loss are unhappy or in need of “saving.” Audism is the result of audio centricity - the belief that having the ability to hear and communicate verbally is the “norm.”Īs the awareness and understanding of audism grow, so does the need to safeguard against discriminatory practices and beliefs.
